We’re really glad that so many folks have signed up for this latest craft box – we hope you have a lot of fun with them! And we hope that you will all be able to join in with the Light Trail on either Friday 29th or Saturday 30th October. We will be sending folks out from the Village Hall car park from 5.30 til 7.00pm both evenings, and we expect it will take you about half an hour to go round (depending on how little legs get on!) There will be a prize for everyone who finishes the trail, and a yummy treat for you too! And if you haven’t had a box, but would like to join in with the trail, then do come along and we can give you a pack with everything you need (although you won’t be able to make the crafts on the day, I’m afraid) Don’t forget to bring the map and instructions, your torch and the UV pen with you – you’ll need them!
If you’ve found your way to this page without having heard about the craft boxes, then welcome too! We have been putting together free craft boxes every so often over the last 10 months or so, for families to have something fun to do together while we haven’t been able to have our usual Soggy Saturday fun afternoons, and while our Discoverers and Little Angels groups have been unable to meet (we’re really glad that Discoverers are up and running again!)
This box is, again a collaboration between Little Angels Tots’ Group, St Michael’s Discoverers after school club and Soggy Saturday. And we’re very much open to everyone! If you would like to receive a craft box for your little one (aged up to 11ish) when we next do one, then the easiest way is for you to join our Soggy Saturday Facebook group, so that you hear about our next box as soon as we announce it!
This time we’ve had a theme of light and dark, and it got me thinking about what the timeless stories of the Bible say about those things. If that sounds interesting, we have an audio story below; why not have a listen – you can download the story to listen to later, as well, if you’d like (just click on the three little dots).
There are loads of other resources available on the internet if you want to explore these stories further. Some of our favourite resources are produced by Trueway Kids – there are LOADS more stories and activities, on all sorts of bits of the Bible, at https://truewaykids.com/. And if, as an adult, you are interested in finding out more about what the Bible talks about (whether or not you would consider yourself a Christian), then do get in touch on freedomchurchwaddington [at] gmail.com – we are big fans of ‘The Bible Course’, which explores all these things, and would love to share it with you.
We mentioned in our letter about some other activities and groups which your little ones might be interested in;
- If your little one is under school age (or thereabouts), you would be very welcome to join Little Angels Tots’ Group. We are not running weekly activities at the moment, but we hope to be able to meet again in person in due course. You can email us for more information on freedomchurchwaddington [at] gmail.com, or take a look at the information here, or on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/LittleAngelsTotsGroup.
- If your little one is a bit older (5+), our friends at St Michael’s Church are back up and running with Discoverers. You can find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/339137400634070 or contact Sue Kenyon on susanekenyon44 [at] gmail.com.
And, as we say, we haven’t forgotten Soggy Saturday either – we miss meeting for afternoons of fun and mayhem at the Village Hall, and we hope these boxes are going some little way to being a replacement. We are always looking for ways to keep blessing folks in Waddington and the surrounding area, so if you have any great ideas, do get in touch – we’d love to hear them!
