We’re sad that we haven’t been able to meet for Soggy Saturday at all this winter, but we hope that the craft boxes have been keeping your little (and not-so-little) ones busy. We truly hope that by the time Soggy Saturday season starts again in the autumn, we’ll be able to gather for our afternoons of fun and chaos, but in the meantime, we’ve put together a few resources. And if, in the autumn, we are still unable to meet, then we will not doubt be back making boxes up! If you would like to receive a craft box for your little one (aged up to 11ish) when we next do one, then the easiest way is for you to join our Soggy Saturday Facebook group, so that you hear about our next box as soon as we announce it!
This box is, again a collaboration between Little Angels and Soggy Saturday. And we’re very much open to everyone! If you would like to receive a craft box for your little one (aged up to 11ish) when we next do one, then the easiest way is for you to join our Soggy Saturday Facebook group, so that you hear about our next box as soon as we announce it! We’d also very much like to recommend our friends at St Michael’s Church’s Discoverers after school club, who have some fantastic Easter resources in the pipeline too – pop along to their Facebook page at that link and see what they’re up to!
This month we’re looking forward to Easter, and thinking about Spring, so our theme is New Life, New Beginnings. And we’d love to share the story of Easter with you. You can listen online, or download it to play for your little ones when you just need a moment’s peace! We’re very grateful to our friend Fiona for telling the story for us…
If you have older ones, we promised a link to the printable tree ‘skeleton’ for the blossom craft, and here it is…
There are loads of other resources available on the internet if you want to explore these stories further. Some of our favourite resources are produced by Trueway Kids – you can find the story of Palm Sunday at https://truewaykids.com/palm-sunday-and-holy-week/ and the story of Easter at https://truewaykids.com/easter-lesson/
We mentioned in our letter about some other activities and groups which you might be interested in;
- If your little one is under school age (roughly – we’re being flexible at the moment!), you would be very welcome to join us at Little Angels (if you don’t already!) We are running weekly Zoom gatherings on a Thursday afternoon (from 1.30pm), with a chance to have a natter for you, and a story and some singing for the little ones. Zoom is dead easy to use, and you don’t even need to sign up for an account! You can contact us here for more information, or take a look at the information here, or on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/LittleAngelsTotsGroup. We are taking a break over Easter, and very much thinking about how we do things over the next weeks and months, as we work towards being able to meet in person again, but keep an eye on the Facebook group for more information!
- If your little one is a bit older (5+), our friends at St Michael’s Church are still running their ‘Discoverers’ after school club, although they can’t meet in person. You can find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/339137400634070 or contact Sue Kenyon on firstname.lastname@example.org.
And, as we say, we haven’t forgotten Soggy Saturday either – we miss meeting for afternoons of fun and mayhem at the Village Hall, and we hope these boxes are going some little way to being a replacement. We are always looking for ways to keep blessing folks in Waddington and the surrounding area, so if you have any great ideas, do get in touch – we’d love to hear them.
